Английский
san fermo Church Verona

From the right transept of the Church we find a "forest" of pillars once covered in frescoes. The spaces under the main basilica are full of holy atmosphere and precious art works. The church is very little known but truly a treasure to discover in Verona!

San Giorgio in Braida
San Giorgio in Braida's church is one of the most evocative historical site in the Verona area beyond the bend of the river Adige, thanks to its characteristic Renaissance dome and the gorgeous bell tower, both by Michele Sanmicheli.

The Cathedral of Verona

Английский
The Cathedral, the main church of Verona (but in my opinion not the most beautiful one) is dedicated to S. Maria Assunta and it is one of the examples of romanesque style in Verona. This church is part of a bigger complex of architectural buildings which include
S. Giovanni in Fonte, S. Elena, the cloister, the Capitular library and the bishop’s residence. Here lives and celebrates the bishop, this is why it is considered the main church of Verona.

Basilica San Zeno in Verona

San Zeno Church
San Zeno church, dedicated to the saint patron of Verona is one of the oldest churches of Verona and of Italy too. The legend says that a first small church was erected on the patron's tomb in 380, but the present building's history begins in 9th century. The Basilica was damaged or destroyed by a Magyar invasion in the early 10th century and in 967, a new Romanesque edifice was built by Bishop Raterius on the same site. On January 3, 1117 the church was damaged by the worst earthquake that hit Verona during its history, and it was restored and enlarged in 1138.
