To Italians, Easter is just as, if not more important than Christmas. As well as the traditional parades and religious events the whole country holds special events, so if you’re in the Veneto region on a break, here are a few of those special events which you might like to get involved in.
 
The Castle of Bevilacqua

Easter Lunch in the Medieval Castle of Bevilacqua, 8th April at 12:30

Near Montagnana in the heart of the Verona plain between Verona, Vicenza, Padua and Rovigo, there is an authentic fourteenth century castle, the Relais Castello Bevilacqua. The castle, now a hotel, is suspended in time between past and the present. The rich historic home also features the ‘All'Antica Ala’ restaurant, a member of the Chefs Alliance and Slow Food Association and this Easter the restaurant will be offering a very special lunch.

Easter tart with marinated trout salad
Crunchy green spring vegetables and asparagus

Risotto with sliced artichoke and Casatella Trevigiana 
Cannelloni of the Countess
 
Secondo piatto
Slow cooked lamb with roast potatoes

Carrot and pistachio pudding with rhubarb jam

All of Italy is family friendly, but this restaurant is even more so as during lunch they will also be offering children’s entertainment and magic games, to keep them occupied.

Easter in Bardolino

Bardolino has two Easter events; the first is an excellent Gastronomic Market, offering fine local produce, which runs between the 7th and the 9th April in the Piazza del Porto and the Lungolago Cornicello.

The second event is an exhibition in Port’s Square. The exhibition is based on the region’s food, wine and other peculiarities. On display will be products by Melegatti, who are the Veronese specialists in cakes and pastries, the Oil Museum, the Wine Museum, as well as an exhibition of historical cars by the Nicolis Museum, and an exhibition of furnishings

A walk through the Cherry trees

On the 9th April at 8:30am walkers will gather at the Piazza della Pesa in San Giovanni Ilarione for a beautiful spring walk, or for those with more energy a run, through the cherry trees. There is a choice of routes which cover 7, 13, or 21Km’s

Finally, if you are in Lake Garda, Gardaland will be open all over Easter, offering the family fun and excitement on a whole range of rides. New attractions for 2012 include The Ice Age in 4D. The 4-D movie ‘Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs’ is the third instalment in a series which has an incredible variety of special effects that will provide guests with the most exciting experience of the Park 4-D ever experienced!
